72o Really?
You’ll be playing 72o this hand. You’re the big blind. Two online poker players fold. Two limpers, and one raises 6bbs. He’s a 50/50 player, you know likes to see a lot of pots. Likes to put his money out there loosely. And the hand comes back around to you. And of course you fold your 72o. And the other two players fold as well, so the 50/50 spastic player takes down the pot. Ok, so who cares and so what, right? Well, a lot of times in poker online we think of the plays we do make and not the ones we don’t. Let’s say you’re the player at the table with the tight, solid image, playing a lot of strong hands and have showed down AA and trip Kings and the nut flush in this session and that’s all the table has seen of your play. You’re playing about 10% of your hands. What did you miss here? Well, that 72o could have been an easy 6bbs, if say you raised it up 25bbs. No one at that poker online table would call you unless they had KK, AA or AKs. And this 50/50 player, you know his range is wide and will easily fold to a steal. The point here is not that it’s a bad play to fold 72o here, the point is that you were in a perfect position to make a steal play and you simply missed the opportunity. Just a little something different to think about when you’re playing, you know, not concentrating so much on your successful plays when you review a session, but on the plays you could have made.
