HSE and Midlands Officials Join Hands to Protect Pub Workers
Employees and staff in licensed pubs and bars have to often deal with a lot of harassment and verbal and physical abuse during the course of their work.
The Midlands’ safety inspectors have joined forces with the HSE to try to bring about a change, and ensure a safer work environment in pubs where employees can work without fear of any attacks from the customers.
HSE’s project manager, Ian Andrews, lamented the low percentage of cases of this kind that are actually reported, stating that many more instances of this sort take place than can be accounted for. He also said that employers owe a duty of care to their employees to take steps to ensure that such incidents occur less and less frequently.
