Due to the down Turn a Lot of Ski Operators Will Be Reducing Their Number of Luxury Catered Chalets
Because of the recession ski occupancies lowered last winter.
This is even with very good early season holiday bookings and first class snow fall.
This reduction in vacationers follows on from seven seasons of growth in the ski industry, and the numbers reduced from 1.2 million in 2008/9 to less than a million last season.
Partly due to vacationers giving the season a miss, whilst other snowboarders who’d typically take two ski vacations, just took the one.
Sales for the independent travel sector fell by 15% with numerous budget airlines cutting the number of airplanes to certain destinations.
Tour operators witnessed the sales decreasing by 15%.
Notwithstanding, the top operators market share remained at a healthy 73% and the Alps in France carried on as the most visited holiday destination with around 37% of the English ski market.
Because of this several ski operators cut the number of luxury chalets they operate this coming winter.
Catered ski chalets will surely witness a fall in holiday makers as catered ski chalets cost more with regards to chalet chefs and rental when it is empty.
It seems unlikely that we shall find the kind of deals that were around this season.
And costs are expected to rise, costs are unlikely to increase much.
